Online Top-up BSc Degree program for Diploma nurses in Austria

Vienna: Changes in health and nursing education in Austria have become law in 2016. After 2023, the government cancelled a nursing diploma education in nursing schools, education will only be possible on Universities for Applied Sciences.

Meanwhile, nursing education has been shifted from nursing schools to University of Applied Sciences. According to new system nursing schools can only teach Pflegeassistenz (one year) and Pflegefachassistenz (two years). Nursing qualification has been upgraded as bachelor program in Austria. But those who are currently holding a diploma nursing qualification and those who are working as diploma nurse may continue in the old law. If interested, such candidates can upgrade their qualification to bachelor study in BSc in Nursing.

The policy of the shift in Austria is also being observed to go in line with in the European standard of health and nursing care. As approach to nursing, health care and training keep changing each country in Europe is looking at their care system these days.

Attached to this, some universities offer the diploma-only nurses (DGKP) skills to raise their qualification to Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (BScN) online. Within a year German DGKP working nurses in the country can get BSc nursing degree recognized throughout Europe. It is a unique feature that can be completed online by studying from home called Bsc top-up program. Top-up program is conducted in English or German and any diploma qualified nurse from anywhere in the world is eligible to join this program.
