Loka Kerala Sabha (LKS): Chief Minister Mr, PInarayi Vijayan addressing the media

The first meeting of Loka Kerala Sabha (LKS), which will discuss pravasi issues and advise on government’s policy decisions, will be held in the state capital on January 12 and 13. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, while addressing the ‘editors meet’ ahead of first LKS, it would be a permanent platform that would meet once in two years The council will have 351 members including MPs from the state, MLAs and representatives of Malayali expatriates across the world.

The government, he said, would nominate 177 persons representing the expatriate population. Various registered pravasi organizations would also have their representation in the LKS, and new members would be nominated on completion of current members’ tenure, the CM said. LKS will meet in the hall on the lower floor of the Legislative Assembly building.

The chief minister will be LKS’s council leader while the opposition leader will be the deputy leader. State chief secretary will be appointed as the LKS secretary general, while a seven-member presidium chaired by the speaker will moderate the proceedings. The presidium will have one representative each from among MPs, MLAs and one member each from Europe and other regions.
